Your visa application in China

The Netherlands embassy in Beijing and consulates-general in Shangai and Guangzhou will decide on your visa application within 48 hours, provided the application is complete and there are no special circumstances.

Schengen visa (< 90 days)

A short-stay Schengen visa allows the holder to travel within the Schengen area for a maximum of 90 days within each 180 days period. First time visitors will in most cases receive a multiple entry visa with a validity of 3 months. Visa for a longer period may be granted depending on the travel history and the profile of the applicant.

The Netherlands has contracted out the Visa application process in China to external service provider TLScontact. To make an appointment in order to submit your application and for general inquiries about visa applications, please contact TLScontact here. Generally you can make an appointment for the next working day.

It is also possible to submit your application in person at the embassy or at one of the consulates-general. However, the number of available time slots is limited; therefore it can take up to two weeks before you can submit your application. An appointment can be made through the website of TLScontact.

Residents of Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Shaanxi and Gansu can submit their application for a Dutch Schengen visa at the consulate general of Hungary in Chongqing.

Residents of Hong Kong can submit their application at the Netherlands consulate-general in Hong Kong.

Residents of Mongolia can submit their application at the German embassy in Ulaan Baatar.

Long stay visa (MVV > 90 days)

Your application for a long stay visa (D-type or “MVV”) can be submitted in person at the embassy in Beijing or the consulates-general in Shanghai or Guangzhou.

The consulate-general of Hungary in Chongqing and the German embassy in Ulaan Baatar do not accept MVV-applications for the Netherlands.

Visa for the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom of the Netherlands
